A Bespoke Award and Expanding the Definition of Fine Arts

This is one of those moments on a journey that’s just a blessing. A dream come true, I didn’t dream of. I’m beyond honored to share that I will be receiving the Bespoke Award from the JAPS Foundation at their sixth annual Brunch Ball this August — a recognition that not only celebrates my work in custom fashion design but aligns with my heart for, and their mission to: expand the definition of fine arts.

The JAPS Foundation — founded in memory of the radiant Mrs. Juanita A. Portlock — provides scholarships and business stipends to rising talents in Fashion Design, Interior Design, Culinary Arts, Event Management, Hospitality, and Cosmetology. Their work uplifts the very spaces where art, culture, creativity, and entrepreneurship intersect — spaces that have long been underrepresented in traditional “fine arts” narratives.

To be recognized among such dynamic past honorees — from fashion pioneers to culinary trailblazers — is both humbling and affirming. For over two decades, I’ve designed under the name Love Collins, building a life in fashion rooted in beautiful garments, personal style, and femininity. Whether through Love Collins Custom & Bridal, my expressive lifestyle brand Dope + Bohemian, or our family-led athleisure line The Community Apparel, my work has always been about more than fabric. It’s about . Over the years, my intentions have expanded beyond my expressions, and are refined by culture, artistic responsibility, and allowing my art to, at times, be of service.

And so, this honor is giving light to the work I’ve done thus far. I celebrate it in spirit with my grandmother, my “Kappy-girl”, every client who has allowed my name to hang in their closet, every model, collaborator, and supporter. To every bride who trusted me with her story.

Join Me at the Brunch Ball

The Brunch Ball will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at the beautiful Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel in Los Angeles. I would love to share this moment with those who have cheered me on and inspired me along the way.

I have a limited number of discounted guest tickets available at $175 for my first 10 guests (after which tickets are $200). Proceeds support scholarships and grants through the foundation — helping to build a future where more creatives can thrive.

If you’d like to reserve a seat at my table or make a donation in my honor toward the foundation’s mission, please email lovecollins@gmail.com

Thanks for gathering here,
Love Collins
