“CLINTON IS BLACK HISTORY,” a small town transformed into a national landmark because of the courage of twelve Black students who walked into Clinton High School in August 1956. They became the first to integrate Clinton High School in the South following the Brown v. Board of Education ruling.

Their names aren’t always in textbooks, but their footsteps changed history. A reminder that Black history happens wherever we are, even in quiet acts of courage.
