FROM THE ARCHIVES!!!!!!
Check out the interview I did of celebrity style maven @JuneAmbrose and soulful songbird @realTamiaworld. A day of fun amidst raising awareness and funds for the Ronald McDonald House Chairity.
Behind the Seams!
June Ambrose was the go-to stylist for many years for artists like, Missy Elliott, Jay Z, Diddy, and many more. Since then she has expanded her brand into television, books, and even non-profit work. I sat down with June and Grammy nominated artist Tamia, who is known for her sultry power house vocals, for this weeks
”Behind the Seams.”
June showed off her toned décolleté in a demure strapless white dress that had the sweetest pleating. Tamia stood out in a bright coral wrap dress, with unfinished details.
Although they are opposites in profession, they have many similarities in their choice of charitable contributions, life, and style. June’s comedic banter and Tamia’s infectious laugh made the afternoon feel less like an interview and more like reminiscing with girlfriends about bad hair days and impulse shopping.
How did you choose what you’re wearing today?
June: I needed something effortless, simple classic statement. I didn’t know what my environment was going to be, I wanted something demure, and white it was the closest thing to being “born again.”
Tamia: I live in a warm climate, and I like color. I was also thinking something that was easy to pack in my suitcase; I was determined to carry my entire luggage on the plane.
Worst style memory?
June: I bought this Fendi pony, pink, spotted cow skin overcoat at a sample sale. It was tragic darling!
Tamia: Ooh! When I was thirteen, I had high hair, and we’d used sugar and water to hold it. Oh, and a blow-dryer. It was horrible.
How old were you when you received your first pair of designer shoes?
June: When I could afford to buy them myself, 19.
Favorite place to shop in LA?
Tamia: The secret is to have stylish friends; they can get you all the hook-ups.
June: I’m a department store girl; I just think you can find more classic pieces… that you can return!
Boots or heels?
June: Darling always in a heel, darling!
Tamia: I’d take a wedge because with mom’s it’s a compromise.
June: But you never get kissed in a wedge!
Sunrise or Sunset?
June: Sunrise, again we’re mothers. I’m a morning person.
Tamia: Sunrise, its quiet, the birds are chirping, and the house is quiet.
Tamia: Neon, and classic white.
June: Neon, as a punctuation!
Describe your “last supper.” What would you wear and serve?
June: Gaultier kimono, I see drama! Dolman sleeves, embroidery, things with texture. I would probably serve a Moroccan stew over a nice bed of couscous.
Tamia: Wow! Can I be a guest at her dinner?
Totally Obsessed, xoxo Love
